Stage 02 · Get users to value
Activate
Show, do not tell. The video that walks a new user to the thing that made them sign up.
3 min read
Activate is the stretch between signing up and getting it. Most products lose people here, in the gap between the promise that won the signup and the moment a new user feels it for themselves. A good activation video does one thing: it walks them straight to the part that made them say yes.
People do not stay for the feature list. They stay for the moment it clicks.
The aha, not the tour
The mistake is the guided tour, the ten-step walkthrough of every menu. Nobody signed up to learn your navigation. They signed up for one outcome. Show that outcome first, fast, and let the rest reveal itself. The best onboarding video is the shortest path from an empty state to the first real win.
Show, do not tell
Text tells; video shows. A paragraph explaining how a feature works asks the reader to imagine it. A ten-second clip just shows it working, in your actual product, on your actual screens. Because Vidien builds from your live site, the walkthrough is your product as it is now, not a mockup that drifts out of date the week after you record it.
One short clip that gets a new user to the thing that made them sign up, dressed in your brand, ready to drop into onboarding, a welcome email, or an empty state.
The video that onboards
Put it where the hesitation is. The empty state. The welcome email. The step where people quietly give up. A short, on-brand clip at that exact moment is worth more than a help doc nobody opens. And when the product changes, you regenerate it, so the video that greets new users is always the current one.
